WHICH OF THESE CABLES MAKES MORE SENSE?
Both of these bed cables will do the job. They’ll both let you take full advantage of the capabilities of your beds, they’ll both help minimize wall damage when a bed is moved, and they’re both easy to use. But one of them costs over three times more and has numerous small, moving parts that could break or jam.
Curbell’s Breakaway Cables are dependable and affordable, and currently connecting thousands of beds in thousands of hospitals. So when you’re looking to upgrade from a standard bed cable to a breakaway cable, the choice is simple.
Curbell’s Breakaway Bed Cable
Magnetic Breakaway Bed Cable
Curbell’s breakaway cables have one end permanently mounted to the wall and the other end permanently mounted to the bed, and the two sections connect via a universal pinless connection.
Magnetic cables have one end permanently mounted to the bed, while the other end magnetically mounts to the wall (or vice versa) using an adaptor.
Curbell’s breakaway cables separate at the middle, with permanent mounts securely in place at the wall and the bed to eliminate unwanted disconnects.
Magnetic cables are only permanently mounted to one end and can easily separate if someone bumps into the end that’s not fastened.
Price under $100
Magnetic cables are typically three times more expensive than Curbell’s breakaway cables.
Curbell’s breakaway cables have molded ends to ensure that the cable is not connected backwards, and the pinless connection won’t attract metal objects that could cause a short.
Magnetic cables can attach to metal surfaces or attract loose objects (staples, needles, paperclips, etc.), which can cause a short circuit in the nurse call system or bed. These objects can also be a source of contamination.
Nurse Call System Compatibility
Curbell’s breakaway cables are available with connections for the majority of nurse call systems.
Magnetic cables are only available with a 37 pin or 1/4″ jack connections.
Curbell’s breakaway cables are available in lengths from 1′ to 15′ for either the wall or bed section to customize them for your individual patient room layouts.
Magnetic cables are only available in 1′ and 6.5′ lengths.
Curbell’s breakaway cables have been installed in over 1000 facilities in the last 15 years.
